ICYMI: Rihanna becomes the first woman to launch an original fashion brand with LVMH

Attention Rihanna fans: The pop star is creating her own fashion line with the world’s largest luxury group, LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, and the first drop will be unveiled in a few weeks. This will mark the first time a woman has launched an original fashion line with the French giant. Dubbed Fenty, the offering will include ready-to-wear and accessories, including shoes, sunglasses and jewellery, and according to the brief statement issued by LVMH, the collection will be “centered on Rihanna, developed by her, and takes shape with her vision in terms of ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories, including commerciality and communication of the brand.” While nothing much has been revealed design-wise, the singer has unveiled the logo on her Instagram page shortly after the announcement, and the brand’s Instagram has amassed over 238k followers to date. Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty brand, which was launched under LVMH’s beauty incubator, Kendo, reportedly generated 500 million Euros in its first full year in operation.

“Everybody knows Rihanna as a wonderful singer, but through our partnership at Fenty Beauty, I discovered a true entrepreneur, a real CEO and a terrific leader. She naturally finds her full place within LVMH. To support Rihanna to start up the Fenty Maison, we have built a talented and multicultural team supported by the group resources. I am proud that LVMH is leading this venture and wish it will be a great success,” said Bernard Arnault, chairman and chief executive officer of LVMH. Rihanna echoed his sentiments, saying, “Designing a line like this with LVMH is an incredibly special moment for us. Mr. Arnault has given me a unique opportunity to develop a fashion house in the luxury sector, with no artistic limits. I couldn’t imagine a better partner both creatively and business-wise, and I’m ready for the world to see what we have built together.”

In the meantime, keep calm and wait for the launch which is scheduled to be presented later this month in Paris.
