After months of speculation, Prada has announced that Raf Simons is joining the brand as co-creative director alongside Miuccia Prada, and the duo will take on “equal responsibilities for creative input and decision-making”, according to a statement by the brand on Instagram. They will be presenting their first collection this September during Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2021 at its womenswear show. The Belgian designer is one of the most well-loved figures in the industry, having helmed labels including Jil Sander, Christian Dior, and most recently, Calvin Klein.
“This partnership, encompassing all creative facets of the Prada label, is born from a deep reciprocal respect and from an open conversation—it is a mutual decision, proposed and determined by both parties. It opens a new dialogue, between designers widely acknowledged as two of the most important and influential of today,” according to the press release issued during a press conference at the Prada headquarters today. Fashion fans, keep calm and wait for September.
