New month, new bags: December ’21 edition—from Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Coperni and more

How did 2021 pass so quickly? We wrap up the end of the year with our final round-up of the latest luxury bag launches, with winter-themed accessories from Louis Vuitton and Fendi and fashion-forward, sustainability-focused collections from cult bag brand Coperni, British heritage house Mulberry and Danish womenswear label Cecilie Bahnsen to start off the new year with a bang. Happy holidays!

Louis Vuitton Twist Bag

Louis Vuitton lands a perfect 10 with Olympic triple-threat and skiing sensation Eileen Gu for their winter launch of the Twist, an iconic bag that highlights the Maison’s heritage with their LV Twist lock closure. Embodying the accessory’s bold personality, Gu showcases the latest Twist bags in her winter element for the brand’s latest digital campaign at the Zaha Hadid-designed Messner Mountain Museum Corones. This season’s reinvention of the Twist model offers a variety of new feminine colours, from rose jasmine to blanc and classic noir, and paired with Monogram flower-embellished chains for a statement touch.

The Louis Vuitton Twist bag is available now online at louisvuitton.com and via the Louis Vuitton app. You can also call 1-300-888-586 for a private appointment.

Fendi Winter Sports Capsule Collection

In anticipation of the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympics taking place in Beijing, Fendi unveils a new Winter Sports Capsule Collection featuring a selection of technical ready-to-wear and activewear styles, as well as accessories and bags. Winter hues such as cold grey, white, baby and ice blue take centre stage for the sustainably-conceived collection, alongside a black-and-white tiger-print motif that’s inspired by the upcoming lunar year of the Tiger. Here, you’ll find the new print inlayed on the Maison’s iconic Mini Peekaboo and Baguette bags, realised in both soft and warm shearling, and accented by a coloured ice blue touch on the buckles.

Fendi’s Winter Sports Capsule Collection will be available in selected Fendi boutiques worldwide and on Fendi’s website from December 23.

Maisie Williams x Coperni

2021 was no short of stellar fashion collaborations, and an unexpected (albeit, super exciting) one that popped up in the domain of handbags came through a partnership between French It-bag brand Coperni and Masie Williams. With Coperni’s hit Swipe bag as the starting point, the versatile yet playful collaboration introduced two new styles designed by the Game of Thrones star that reimagines the brand’s silhouettes in an alternative leather material for the first time. Inspired by the apple’s symbolism in pop culture, the chemical-free pieces are crafted out of fibres derived from apple waste to show that sustainable fashion can also be beautiful.

The new collection includes two perforated cross-body models, featuring a detachable shoulder strap and five metal pins recalling the stickers you find on apples––elements that give distinctive oval shape of the Swipe bag (which originally refers to the unlocking logo of an iPhone) an unusual and customisable twist. Available in two sizes and three colours that include Silver, Forest and Berry, the Maisie Williams x Coperni bags are an embodiment of a fashion future that is innovative yet responsible.

The Maisie Williams x Coperni collaboration is available on the Coperni website.

Mulberry ‘Lowest Carbon’ Collection

For the latest chapter of Mulberry Editions for their 50th anniversary, Mulberry has partnered up with textiles company and Scottish Leather Group member Muirhead to launch a new collection of bags crafted out of the world’s lowest carbon leather. Featuring an update of the best-selling Amberley Satchel, the limited-edition capsule has been described by Mulberry as a ‘pioneering hyper-local, hyper-transparent ‘farm-to-finished product’ and were created by craftspeople in Mulberry’s ‘carbon-neutral’ Somerset factories.

Inspired by British countryside pursuits, the Amberly Satchel was originally designed to be worn on the shoulder or hands-free across the body, with its shape and hardware borrowed from equestrian styling. The bags arrive in four colourways: cornflower blue, coral orange, black and charcoal, and features a bold and modern signature of their geometrical Rider’s Lock closure.

The Mulberry ‘Lowest Carbon’ collection is available online at Mulberry.com.

Cecilie Bahnsen X Chacoli X Mackintosh

For their 10th Encore Collection, Danish womenswear label Cecilie Bahnsen presented the Louise tote as its first-ever handbag. Created in collaboration with British outerwear brand Mackintosh and Japanese brand Chacoli, the new tote bag epitomises the label’s strong femininity in a simple, yet perfected structure. For the uninitiated, Chacoli’s origin story goes back to 2011 with a bookstore owner who needed a way to transport fragile, antique books. Crafted out of leftover bonded cotton fabric with stitch floral embellishments from Mackintosh, the new range of bag features compartmental dividers to help you stay organised on the go.

Arriving in vibrant hues of black, white, gray, blue and yellow, the Louise bag is also available in a variety of shapes to suit each individual wearer––making it an elegant yet practical carry-on solution for everyday use.

The Cecilie Bahnsen x Chacoli x Mackintosh collection is exclusively online at ceciliebahnsen.com and in-store at Dover Street Market Ginza.
