New month, new bags: April ’22 edition––from Dior, Saint Laurent, Loewe and more

With the Spring/Summer 2022 season in full swing, fashion is blooming as brands all around the world doll out their latest designs for your next stylish adventure. Whether you’re in need of a new everyday companion to hold your life together, or on the hunt for a summer holiday statement, this month’s bulletin of the latest luxury bags is nothing short of exciting.

Fresh collaborations arrive by way of Loewe’s latest Paula’s Ibiza drop and artist André Saraiva’s graffitied rendition of a Longchamp icon, while Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta and MSGM unveil new styles with strong, standout identities. Over at Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri introduces her latest loungewear-inspired capsule and Chloé sees the return of Garbiela Heart’s iconic Edith.

Dior Chez Moi

Launched in 2020 to elevate the home leisure style, Maria Grazia Chiuri’s latest Chez Moi collection is all about bright colours and bold prints in luxurious silks––”an invitation to refinement and the sweetness of life” and ode to well-being and elegance. Fundamentals dear to the house, such as the distinctive toile de Jouy, Mizza leopard pattern and Dior Zodiac or D-Constellation motifs designed by Pietro Ruffo, adorn iconic bags from the Lady D-Joy to the Dior Book Tote in dazzling prints and vibrant pop hues. What better way to update your summer wardrobe then with a stunning accessory created in tribute to Christian Dior’s fascination with astrology and the beauty of the stars?

Saint Laurent Icare Maxi Shopping bag

Maxi bags are back with a vengeance. Say hello to the Icare, Saint Laurent’s bag of the season––a fit-your-entire-life-in maxi shopping tote that’s anything but dainty. Crafted in soft lambskin with a flat lozenge quilting, the oversized accessory features a slouchy but structured style that screams jumbo practicality. But just because it revels in function, doesn’t mean it skimps on style. Sculpted front and centre like jewellery, the iconic, maxi-curved YSL signature is where Icare gets its name from, a logo that “shines like the sun that burned Icarus’ wings”, according to creative director Anthony Vacarello’s team.

In other words, it’s set to become a go-to essential for those who deal in off-duty designer, and who better than the brand’s catwoman ambassador Zoë Kravitz to drive the point home?

The Saint Laurent Icare Maxi Shopping bag is now available online at the brand’s website and in select stores.

Bottega Veneta Turn Pouch

First introduced in Wardrobe 03 as part of the small leather goods collection, Salon 03 then saw the evolution of the Turn Pouch in new sizes, colours and materials.

Playful yet edgy, this peculiar bag is transformative, changing from a pouch to a half-moon mini shoulder bag thanks to its gold metallic sliding sphere. As such, this adjustable structure and contrasting soft body makes it a subtle statement piece that goes with just about any outfit. Crafted in the house’s signature Intrecciato 15 supple nappa that brings sophisticated craftsmanship that the brand is recognised for, the bag is completed with a tone-on-tone tubular nappa strap with iconic knot details.

Available in small and medium, the Turn pouch arrives in an array of shades with gold accents for every wardrobe including parakeet (the iconic Bottega green), lantern, acid kiwi, black and white.

Loewe Paula’s Ibiza

Jump into a summer of hedonism, sparkling with sequins and colour, by way of Loewe’s newest Paula’s Ibiza collection. As with the rest of the capsule, accessories arrive bursting with a sense of playful vibrancy that references the freedom of the Spanish party island. Ombre colours recalling psychedelic sunsets are applied to iconic Loewe bags including the Puzzle, Hammock, Amazona and Goya. Denim is also a key part of the collection, with the Flamenco clutch crafted in denim while the Anagram is blown up and turned into a cut-out leather and canvas. Like past offerings, woven straw and raffia also completes the story––this time with colour in ombre gradients and fun geometries across both large and small totes and buckets.

MSGM Clic family

MSGM presents the all-new Clic, a fun new family that characterises the brand’s direction under new Chief Executive Officer Veronica Bertozzi. Unveiled on the Spring/Summer 2022 runway via the mini Clic, the range’s name comes from the recurring element that defines all designs: a distinctive snap closure (and heritage reference) inspired by classic schoolbags and satchels, and translated into an ultra-contemporary element.

As a nod to Creative Director Massimo Giorgetti’s love for brutalism, the Clic mechanism retains an industrial flavour in lasered metal, which also clashes beautifully with the bag’s feminine shapes and bright hues. It doesn’t stop there: the Clic family is crafted in 100 per cent vegan leather, and will continue to expand over the next few seasons through clutches, cardholders, AirPod cases and more.

For the current season, a compact version of the Clic is available in bold Vichy prints that manifest as eye-catching daisies and tutti-frutti patterns that channel the collection’s picnic inspiration. There’s also a sister model in the form of a large shoulder bag fit for all occasions, arriving in monochrome, fluorescent tones of yellow, pink and green.

The MSGM MINI CLIC® bag is now available worldwide online at and in stores, including Malaysia at Level 3, Parkson Elite, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
