For the 101.3 KDWB 2019 Jingle Ball, pop sensation Katy Perry wore local designer Khoon Hooi to the red carpet. Perfect for the holidays, the singer was wrapped up in a yellow satin gown from the Spring 2020 collection, embellished with an oversized bow and sequins-looking like a life-sized gift! Styled by celebrity stylist Samantha Burkhart (who also dresses other famous names such as Billie Eilish, Rosalia and Christina Aguilera), we’re looking forward to seeing more Malaysian designers on the red carpet come 2020!

The Nike Victory Swim collection includes a full-coverage swimsuit, plus separates such as a hijab, a tunic top and leggings. The swimsuit and tunic top features a built-in sports bra while the hijab comes with an integrated mesh pocket that promises to hold hair in place. Albeit fully-covered, the Nike Victory Swim collection enables speed and agility with its streamlined silhouette. Fun fact: The campaign stars Malaysian talent, Arinna Erin Wira! The young star splits her time between Kuala Lumpur and London where she recently completed her Master’s degree in Business Intelligence and Social Media. She shared on Instagram: “Being a hijabi never stopped me from doing the things I love, it’s a part of me that I cherish, not something that limits my journey to do greater things. Although I’ve never let anything stop me from swimming, I still wanted a swimsuit that was functional and not just aesthetically pleasing to look at. The moment I put on the Nike Victory swimsuit, it felt right. It served its purpose and swimming in it was effortless”

Famous for feminine silhouettes with classic French flair, the late designer will be missed by fashion’s elite. “Ungaro reminds me of my youth…of happy, sexy printed dresses”, said Diane von Furstenberg. Chairman of the Salvatore Ferragamo Group, Ferruccio Ferragamo stated that “A beautiful part of fashion history is gone with him. He had such good taste and knew how to dress women in a feminine way—a style I really liked.” His legacy of “sensuality, colour and flamboyance” lives on with the brand.

Is this the most adorable collection yet? We say it’s a fair chance! The cheeky collection revolves around the idea of a mouse chasing cheese, translated into leather and nylon bags, as well as a T-shirt. Inspired by the Chinese concept of ‘Chihuo’, which means foodie in Chinese, the munched-off leather flap detail on the top handle bag is a cheeky play on the theme. Extra cheese, please!

According to a report on WWD, the label has taken the pledge to do away with furs from their clothing, which comes under years of pressure from PETA. The animal activists group stated that the executives at the AM Retail Group have agreed to the ban on fur. The Karl Lagerfeld brand joins BurberryDiane von FurstenbergChanelGucciMichael KorsPradaJimmy Choo and Versace in the anti-fur movement. PETA’s senior director Anne Brainard said in a statement, “PETA applauds these companies for their compassionate and business-savvy decisions, which show that fur is out and kindness is in. Ethical shoppers simply don’t want animals to be abused and killed for coats, collars and cuffs, and these fur bans are proof that the fashion industry is changing to meet the rising demand for luxury cruelty-free alternatives.”
