Dressed up Fridays: Sequin glory

Following our #WednesdayWishlist this week celebrating all things sparkly and glittery, we decided that styling a sequined outfit isn’t as easy as it seems. Here’s how you can do sequins for your Christmas/NYE party without steering towards tinsel territory:

While you might not want to go overboard with an equally spangled top, a twist on the silhouette will offer a polished veneer, such as Alexander Wang’s peplum top that has a slightly asymmetrical hemline.

The pièce de résistance of the night would be Burberry London’s tulle skirt that is embellished with dense sparkling silver sequins. Made in Italy, the skirt has a grosgrain waistband and is lined in smoothing stretch-silk for a comfortable fit.

A complementary sparkly pair of sandals that’s within the same colour scheme as your skirt is required, such as Gianvito Rossi silver silk satin ankle-strap sandals that are beautifully embellished with tonal crystals.

While we never recommend mixing metals, this Edie Parker ‘Jean’ clutch with gold-tone top clasp fastening, beige and white horizontal stripes is an unpredictable and welcoming accessory. And plus, the internal mirror definitely comes in handy.

Go with elegant drop earrings such as Stone’s ‘Cry Me A River’ white gold earrings—embellished with white diamonds that is set in a triple drop design—because classy is only the best way to go.

Amp your beauty game with a deep pink lippie; Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet offers a soft, velvet matte finish that’s non-drying and long-lasting.

Or go with a subtle flick of glitter on your upper eyelids by using Urban Decay’s Heavy Glitter Eyeliner in Glamrock. Remember that less is always more with high-sheen, high-impact makeup.
