5 Reasons to catch the Dior Autumn 2022 show live from Seoul this weekend

It was just two months ago when we saw Dior incorporate technology into fashion by way of the innovative Italian start-up D-Air Lab—which specialises in intelligent clothing—at Paris Fashion Week Autumn-Winter ’22. First of its kind for the storied fashion house, the runway saw an illuminated bodysuit, full skirts in techno net as well as airbags over outfits, amongst others, in a collection aptly titled ‘The New Era’.

This weekend, on the 30th of April, Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri will take that very show to her Asian audience in one of the region’s hottest style capitals: Seoul, South Korea. Here’s what you can expect from the upcoming show:

World-renowned show space

If you’ve visited Seoul before, chances are you’ve been to this popular tourist hotspot for the young and fashionable. The approaching Dior runway show will be held at the Ewha Womans University, which is one of South Korea’s prestigious universities founded in 1886. The vast, serene campus offers a stunning contrast between classic and modern architecture, surrounded by vibrant shopping and dining options.

K-Stars galore

If you’ve been following the House closely, you’ll know that Dior has some pretty notable ambassadors from Seoul, namely Jisoo and Bae Suzy, who never fail to make a buzz with their feminine sense of style and compelling presence. Aside from those two in the front row, there will also be gold-medalist figure-skating icon Kim Yuna, who is one of the faces of the label in South Korea. Wonder who else we’ll see there!

A special collaboration

The Maison and Ewha Womans University have joined forces to foster the next generation of women leaders. Following this partnership, Maria Grazia has also been invited to be part of the conversation with the university’s president on the 1st of May to share common values.

New frontier

For Autumn 2022, Maria Grazia Chiuri looked beyond the conventional by incorporating technical innovation into the House’s most recognised pieces such as the Dior Bar jacket, merging the past with the present and future. Here’s a chance to see the ingenious collection down the runway if you missed it the first round.

A brand-new store

On the 1st of May, a unique concept store will be revealed at Seongsu-dong, a district in Seoul that represents creative energy and the spirit of a new generation. There, Dior has imagined an exclusive space that will evolve with the seasons and collections.
