Buro 24/7 announces new CEO, and relocation of global headquarters to London

Buro 24/7 is proud to announce its latest developments as a global brand at the cutting edge of luxury fashion and lifestyle digital media. Nick Smith joins the Buro 24/7 group from Sydney, Australia, where he was Prestige and Lifestyle Director for News Corp Australia, overseeing nine of the company’s brands including licenses for Vogue Australia, GQ Australia, and Buro 24/7 Australia. He was previously also the Editor-in-Chief of GQ Australia, with a five-year tenure that saw both commercial and audience growth of the brand.

In his new role, Smith will oversee all operational and commercial activity for the group, whose portfolio includes Buro 24/7 digital media platforms and offline brand extensions in 11 different markets, and a majority stake in influential fashion industry magazine, System.

Smith, along with System’s co-founders Elizabeth von Guttman, Alexia Niedzielski and Jonathan Wingfield, will drive the expansion of the luxury fashion and lifestyle destination, Buro 24/7, into new markets with increased cross-platform investment in the System magazine brand, a global magazine that has found success celebrating the fashion industry and its impact on the world. The new leadership team will also launch a creative and content marketing division, offering strategy, creation and distribution services for fashion and lifestyle clients on a global or regional basis.

“I’m delighted to join Buro 24/7 with a new home in London,” says Smith. “It’s a company of assets with immense potential for expansion in the luxury, fashion and lifestyle categories around the world. What’s most exciting is the depth of talent across the Buro 24/7 network, be it in editorial, creative or technology that will allow us to take the company to the next level. 2018 marks an exciting new era for the group.”

System magazine co-founder Elizabeth von Guttman added, “We’re excited for the new leadership and expertise that Nick brings in brand dynamism, audience and commercial growth. With this new leadership team in place, along with our expansion plans for Buro 24/7 and System, plus the creative and content innovation offered to clients through our agency, we have a winning formula for success.”

Notable new appointees to the Buro 24/7 London headquarters include Digital Director, Matt Jones, and Digital Creative Director, Patrick Waugh. Jones joins Buro 24/7 from public relations agency KCD and was previously longstanding Head of Digital at the Dazed group. Waugh, after a background in magazine art direction at Pop, and Arena Homme +, has since been the Head of Brand Creative and Content across Topshop and Topman. Both will operate from London. Lesley Czuma also joins the team as Expansion Director. Czuma brings a wealth of international experience to the group, having held executive levelmarketing and business development roles in China, Germany and Russia. All new executives join Nick Smith in their roles immediately.
