And the winds of change continues, as Marni founder Consuelo Castiglioni has announced her decision to step down after more than 20 years with the label. It has been decided that Francesco Risso—who has worked at Anna Molinari, Alessandro Dell’Acqua and Malo prior to joining Prada Group—will succeed Castiglioni as creative director. Risso’s first collection for Marni will be for Autumn/Winter 2017.
Consuelo Castiglioni founded Marni back in 1994 with her husband Gianni, and has since garnered wide admiration for her bold and sophisticated vision for design. You could say her knack for innovative silhouettes coupled with bold colours and textures is second to none, and she leaves with a stellar Spring/Summer 2017 collection as her last work for the label.
“These were hectic and exciting years which absorbed all of my energies to create a project I am proud of,” said Castiglioni in a statement. “Thanks also to the constant support of my family, who allowed me to stay true to my idea, I built a brand with a precise and recognisable identity. The time has now come to dedicate myself to my private life. I thank all the people who believed in this project and who, with loyal dedication, have helped me along this fantastic journey.”
