Balenciaga teams up with the World Food Programme

A scroll through Balenciaga’s AW18 show and you’ll notice the World Food Programme-branded pieces that were sent down the runway—T-shirts, baseball caps and fanny packs were printed with the WFP logo and “Saving Lives, Changing Lives” slogan. And now, the brand has made it official: it’s teaming up with the World Food Programme to fight global hunger, and the partnership aims to “draw attention to the recent spike in global hunger and to support global efforts to end it by 2030”. Committed to making a positive change, to date, Balenciaga has donated over $250,000 to the organisation, and from August 25 this year to February 1 next year, it’ll donate 10% of the retail price of each WFP-branded piece that is sold in stores, online and via business partners to charity.


Speaking of the collaboration, Balenciaga’s creative director Demna Gvasalia says, “We consider this partnership with The World Food Programme to be an important step in making fashion useful in a different way and supporting good causes with our products whenever possible.”
