American Music Awards 2021: Best red carpet style, from BTS to Olivia Rodrigo

The American Music Awards 2021 went down with a full in-person event this morning, with many of music’s biggest stars in attendance to celebrate promising new talent, established artists and achievements from the year that just passed. As always, the red carpet for the world’s largest fan-voted awards show promises a fashion spectacle, with previous years delivering us many memorable fashion moments, from Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake in matching double denim in 2001 to Lizzo’s iconic two-inch Valentino microbag for 2019’s affair.

Setting the tone of this year’s awards, first-time host Cardi B broke out her boldest in a surrealist Schiaparelli masquerade look, while presenter Billy Porter fronted something a bit more avant-garde in a sky blue two-piece with a matching umbrella headpiece. And of course, marking their first live performance and return to the red carpet in the States, the boys of BTS were back in full colour-coordinated force, courtesy of Louis Vuitton.

Scroll on ahead for the most memorable celebrity fashion moments at this year’s American Music Awards:

First-time host Cardi B set the tone of the night in head-to-toe Schiaparelli, complete with a surreal gold face, gold fingernail-ripped gloves and a black veiled gown.

Olivia Rodrigo

BTS made their red carpet comeback in the States wearing fully co-ordinated Louis Vuitton suits, before sweeping categories with three awards including artist of the year, favourite pop group and favourite pop song.
