Dress like a model: 6 Ways you can steal their style

Time flies when you’re having fun and we’ve come to the end of the Autumn/Winter 2020 season! When it came to the street style scene, New York served up some cozy attires, reminding us that comfort is key and self care comes first. Across the pond, Londoners beat the city’s gloomy weather by donning bright colours to brighten up the mood. Over in Milan, the Italians brought their OOTD game up another level by forming a fashionable army.

Throughout the season, we’ve spoken about the stylish show goers, celebrity sightings and beautiful collections by fashion’s visionaries. But lest we forget the muses that bring the clothes to life on the runway. For the final round of our street style stalking, we thought it was apt to shift the lens over to the models that were equally responsible in making the runway shows a wonderful spectacle.

It’s safe to say that models are on a different level of cool. Number one, they’re genetically blessed. Two, they have really cool jobs. And three, they know how to turn heads by simply…walking. Their main roles in fashion is to embody the vision of the maison, so its nice to see the personalities behind the famous faces when they’re off-duty. It’s no surprise these ladies have impeccable styles of their own.

Below, we recount six ways you can emulate their effortless cool style:

Go wild with prints

The best way to make a big fashion statement is to wear head-turning prints. Plaid is a safe venture into the trend, but if you’re looking to up the ante, be a trail blazer in clashing florals and animal print.

The more the merrier with layers

Layers are a fun way to experiment. Do it like the experts in triple layers for a well-styled ensemble. Need an extra accessory? Bucket hats and beanies double up as head warmers.

Leisure in leather

Pop culture popularises a leather jacket as the ultimate cool kid uniform. And it’s easy to see why. It’s ever-versatile and rocks a street edge. Play the balance and pair it with feminine silhouettes for a sartorial spin.

Go stealth in all-black

One can’t go wrong with an all-black OOTD. It’s sleek and chic, and flatters all body shapes and sizes. Take a walk on the dark side and unleash the edge with a monotone look from head-to-toe.

True blue jeanius

A good pair of denims go a long way. Be it straight, flared, tapered or a mom jean, there’s a cut best suited for everybody. Blessed with height and the pins? Show what your momma gave ya in a 70’s inspired belted jumpsuit.

Back to basics

Normcore will never die. If you prefer a pared down look, go with solid-coloured basics for a polished effect. No matter what your style is, comfort is key!
