New York Fashion Week

Kicking off the month, designers in New York opted for practicality above all, offering compact top-handles to roomy totes to help carry you into the new season. These are staples that have transcended eras, re-envisioned for the contemporary context to strengthen their positions as essentials for the forever wardrobe. Crafted in this season’s prettiest palettes, classic styles were given a chic update with cool details such as ruched handles, geometric silhouettes and woven fabrics.

While Coach updated their original “Cashin Carry” from 1969 in colourful environmentally responsible leather and fun New York-themed graphics, Peter Do’s highly anticipated runway debut unleashed a covetable range of oversized leather bags that draw from the brand’s relaxed silhouettes––hand-held, slung over the body and in a lust-worthy alligator facade as the perfect complement to his fresh take on boss-wear. Over at Moschino, the iconic biker bag was reimagined in an adorable heart shape, while clutches and chainmail purses got a kitschy toy-inspired upgrade.
