A closer look at Chryseis Tan’s bridal gowns

Malaysia saw its wedding of the year as SM Faliq SM Nasimuddin wed Chryseis Tan. The respective heir and heiress pulled all the stops at the recent wedding reception held in MITEC. Shane Filan of Westlife and British boyband, Blue crooned and swooned the guests with their smooth vocals—cue all the throwback feels. Nonetheless, Chryseis still stole the show with her beautiful gowns.

For the solemnisation ceremony in February, Chryseis wore a gown by Indonesian designer, Yefta Gunawan. The cross-cultural union called for a fitted, elbow-length dress with a stand-up Mandarin collar, that extended to coated shank buttons that ran down the middle—modest, traditional and most importantly, timeless. Intricate beading lined the bodice, which we can only imagine took many days to complete in Yefta Gunawan’s atelier in Jakarta. The young bride looked like a fairytale princess in a long, veiled train that cascaded down to the floor—a fitting look as the ceremony took place at The Chateau in Berjaya Hills with its medieval-like castles.

Chryseis continued with the traditional theme as she stunned at the official wedding reception in custom FiziWoo artisanal songket. The elegant, asymmetrical pleated songket dress was in a shade of dazzling ivory, with silk tulle appliqué. The floral ornaments adorned the bust, waistline, sleeves and veil for a grand conclusion. The blushing bride balanced her extravagant wedding gown with a low chignon, classic teardrop diamond earrings and diamond choker. On her toes—crystal-studded closed toe pumps from Jimmy Choo fit for a modern day Cinderella.

On to the first dance with her newlywed beau, Chryseis opted with Filipino, Dubai-based designer, Michael Cinco for a more party-ready number. For her “fav[ourite] part of the night”, she donned a  fitted bodice that flowed down to a high-low hem which poured into a train, complete with floral details that coincided with her previous ensemble. The blissed out pair danced on to the sounds of early aught’s boyband Blue; the dress’ billowing train didn’t deter her from busting a move. “Still not sure how I managed to twirl in that dress!” One thing’s for sure though, she looked amazing that night.
