MTV Video Music Awards 2018: Best dressed looks on the ‘pink’ carpet

The MTV VMAs went host-free this year as it broadcasted live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Judging from its previous years, this was going to be another unpredictable night. Cardi B opened the ceremony with what looked like baby Kulture swaddled in a plush pink blanket. “I got a little surprise for you,” she teased. Could this be baby B’s big debut? Psych—she trolled us with the MTV moon man wrapped in the blanket.

Besides the humour, another great thing about the MTV VMAs is the variety of looks that walk down the red carpet (this year, it was pink). Unlike the more traditional awards shows like The Academy Awards and The Grammys, celebrities are allowed to have a little more fun with their ensembles. Rita Ora turned up the heat with a heavily sheered number (remember that time she showed up in a bathrobe? Epic) while Sofia Carson looked demure in a trapeze tulle dress with an appliqué bust and Winnie Harlow pulled off not one but two red carpet looks. The recurring trend of the night—fresh white as a palette refresher. Blake Lively, Kylie Jenner, Dej Loaf, Maluma and Morgan Saint donned all-white ensembles while Grace VanderWaal, Chloe x Halle, Winnie Harlow turned it up with shimmer.
