Best dressed of the week: The cast of Crazy Rich Asians

The film adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s Crazy Rich Asians book is undeniable the most talked about film recently, and the main reason? It’s the first major Hollywood project since 1993’s Joy Luck Club to feature an all-Asian cast. At the movie premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood last night, the stars showed up on the red carpet in ultra-opulent looks that would definitely make their on-screen characters proud. The leading ladies turned up the glamour in shimmering ensembles, and some of our favourites of the night? Constance Wu in an embellished Ralph & Russo gown complete with fringed sleeves for that dramatic flair; Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh in a tiered Armani Privé gown with statement-making Bvlgari jewellery; and Gemma Chan, who looked oh-so-chic in a midi Oscar de la Renta dress.

The guys did not disappoint either. Instead of a classic black tux, Henry Golding, Chris Pang and Harry Shum Jr. opted for colour, material and prints to give their look of the night a twist. Aside from that, spot Malaysian actress Carmen Soo who’s dressed in Melinda Looi Couture, Liv Lo (aka Mrs. Golding) in Farah Khan, and Raline Shah wearing a batik-inspired look by Indonesian designer Biyan Wanaatmadja.
