If you thought that bowling merch will always read as tacky more than chic, Prada and Mr Porter will prove you wrong with a brand new bowling-themed capsule collection. This 32-piece range takes major inspiration from the bygone eras when the sport was all the rage — specifically the 1950s and 1980s. Marking Prada’s first menswear exclusive in collaboration with an online retailer, you can expect a range of apparel and shoes from this capsule.
“The retro themes of Fifties and Eighties men’s wear were an effortless inspiration for the campaign and content, and allowed us to easily meld the worlds of Mr Porter and Prada,” said Toby Bateman, managing director at Mr Porter on WWD. Think Hawaiian camp-collar shirts, gingham checks and madras prints alongside pop-cartoon motifs that were rife in Prada’s recent collection. A handful of smart pieces take on a retro aesthetic, including mohair wool blazers, old-school stripe cardigans, and suede/satin blouson jackets. Spot a special Prada bowling logo on a few of the printed tees — a must-have for any bowling fan. Take your pick from an assortment of footwear, such as cap-toe sneakers and Derbies, loafers and creepers that would fare excellently with pleated and flat front trousers from the collection.
Prada x Mr Porter is available this April 25 online.
