While the world knew him as the maestro behind Chanel’s magic following the late founder, the unwavering impact he left extended far beyond the famed house—long before, even. Lagerfeld’s illustrious career spanned a multitude of esteemed houses, including Chloé, Jean Patou, Valentino, and Balmain. Known as one of the hardest-working and most ambitious designers in the industry, he simultaneously held the helm at Fendi, his eponymous label, and of course, Chanel—up until his passing in 2019.
