Buro 24/7 Exclusive: Aimee Song on travelling with Jimmy Choo

When you have seven of the world’s most stylish influencers on a trip together in beautiful India, one can expect a plethora of breathtaking photos; from killer OOTDs to decadent destination snaps. Team the aforementioned with Jimmy Choo and we have the ultimate chic travel squad.

To bring the opulent personality of the Cruise 2017 collection, Jimmy Choo invited Aimee Song, Gala Gonzalez, Leila Yavari, Evangelie Smyrniotaki, Carmen Hamilton and Courtney Trop to Rajasthan for an exclusive photoshoot. From stunning historical locations in Jaipur and Agra including the Taj Mahal, the City Palace, the Abhaneri Step Well and colourful charm of the streets, the northern Indian state provided the perfect canvas for the collection. The shoot narrates two sides of the Cruise 2017 story: elegant Evening for the holiday party season and bohemian Getaway for winter sun adventures. Renowned photographer, Candice Lake captured each influencer in self-styled looks, reflecting their individual aesthetic.

We caught up with Aimee Song as she talks about her style, her favourite Jimmy Choo’s and the Instagram-worthy Rajasthan trip that is giving us serious holiday envy.

Share with us the Rajasthan experience with Jimmy Choo. What was your favourite part of the trip?

The Rajasthan trip was amazing because the colours of the cities were so beautiful. My favorite part was experiencing all of the culture. I got to have custom-made clothing from the materials they use for saris—they’re my new favorite pieces. I ate curry every day, which was great because I love Indian food. The brand just treated us so well and you could tell that they wanted us to have the best experience.

You’ve visited numerous destinations in India. Which was your favourite location, and what is your favourite Instagram shot of Rajasthan?

I absolutely loved Jaipur. They painted the entire city pink! My favorite shots are the ones at the Amber Fort and from inside the blue room at the City Palace . The whole experience there was amazing.

You styled yourself for the photoshoot. How did the looks from the shoot reflect your aesthetic?

For the first look, I love bright colors and feminine dresses. When I first saw the dress, I instantly knew I wanted to wear it in India. The shoes were perfect with the embellished clip-ons. For the night look, I’m super into off the shoulder and sparkly pieces, so that was perfect.

Which was your favourite look and accessory from the Jimmy Choo Cruise 2017 collection?

I love both outfits! My favourite accessory is the ‘Lash’ sunglasses from the first look. Statement sunglasses are a must-have accessory for me.

The evening looks from the photoshoot seem perfect for the holiday party season. Which shoe would you pick for a fun night out?

For a simple party, if I’m not dancing, it would be the ones I wore, or the ones you can change out the clip-ons. If I’m to dance all night long, it will definitely be the gold Mary Janes.

{insert gallery tpl=”slide-freesize.tpl” id=”Aimee Song x Jimmy Choo” rid=”4669″ order=”a_tstamp”} What do you like most about Jimmy Choo? What is it about the brand that appeals to many?

I think that almost any girl can be a Jimmy Choo girl. I like the idea of the woman they’re promoting: smart, strong, sexy, and playful.

What outfits and shoes would you normally be found wearing?

On a daily basis, I’ll wear my Jimmy Choo gold Mary Janes because they go with everything; frayed hem denim with a t-shirt or button down. I’m also obsessed with an Alice & Olivia x Basquiat collaboration jacket that I’ve been wearing every day.

Let’s talk about your style. Who is your go-to style inspiration?

Before it was always a certain celebrity, but now I’m really inspired by the way real women dress—not just ones in magazines.

Your book, Capture Your Style is a New York Times Bestseller. Why did you decide to come up with a book? What was the inspiration behind it?

I thought about writing a book, but I wanted to do something more meaningful than just talking about fashion. I wanted to help people in some way. I get asked about Instagram every day, whether it’s about how to grow a following or start a business, so I decided to write about that.

You have over 4.1 million followers on Instagram. What do you love most about being an influencer?

What I love about being an influencer is getting to connect with so many different people all over the world and being able to make a difference, whether it’s something small like helping them with how to dress, or inspiring them to follow their dreams.

Name some funny facts about yourself.

I eat 3 or 4 avocados a day. I’m so obsessed that I even pack them on my travels.

If you could only wear one type of shoe for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Definitely a pair of slip-ons!

Heels or flats? Why?

Flats because they’re comfortable and can also be dressy.

What’s next on your shoe wishlist?

There is a pair of velvet Jimmy Choo heels that I want.
