Who: Last season, Wes Gordon ushered in a new dawn as he took the reigns at America’s de facto house of elegance. This fall, he proves the sunny disposition is here to stay—as evidenced by both the vibrant theme and the pride that shone from the brand’s founder, who sat on the FROW.
The low-down: With a wider demographic in mind, the collection sets out to discard all suggestions of starchiness. Gordon does this while keeping a sense of sophistication by giving us polished pieces splashed—and sometimes, shamelessly doused—in the most joyous of hues. Silhouettes bounced back and forth between floor-kissing and thigh-baring because who says a lady cannot be both fun and formal at the same time?
Buro loves: The facelift on dated notions such as cummerbunds and egregious volume for daytime. Next brunch outfit idea: pink sashes and taffeta sundresses.
3.1 Phillip Lim

Who: Word is, the brand’s founder has climbed aboard the “Marie Kondo Express” to clutter-free county. In his perpetual quest to dress global citizens and romance reality, Phillip Lim presents a timely solution to timeless wardrobes.
The low-down: The overall look of the lineup seems to cater to an urban explorer whose personal brand of wilderness is the concrete jungle. Utilitarian pockets, large flaps, snap buttons and double topstitched seams opened the show. A sprinkling of print—zebra, to echo the theme, we’re guessing—alongside a hint of skin by way of slashed sleeves and bared shoulders brought some sensuality back into the otherwise self-possessed collection.
Buro loves: Woolen coats in lieu of real fur. Lim has recently taken a stance against fur and exotic skins!
