Khoon Hooi
Fusing traditional and contemporary elements with sophistication at its core, Khoon Hooi’s Raya Gold 2023 collection offers an assemblage of bold statement looks with striking hues of red, fuchsia, topaz and orange. Paying homage to our homeland, each piece features subtle tropical accents such as parrot and butterfly brooches adorned on beautiful textural fabrics. Suited for all sorts of occasions, the line-up boasts a glamorous variety of baju kebaya, baju kurung, baju kedah, as well as kaftans.

Alia Bastamam
This Raya, the renowned designer has elevated traditional wear through ultra-modern interpretations imbued with her signature resort aesthetic. Subtle nods to Southeast Asian cultures pervade the 24-piece collection, as seen on the sumptuous Lily Kurung, Dharma Kurung, as well as the Afzan ensemble with its ruffled draped skirt resembling those of a Thai Royal Court dancer’s. The Mandalas take centre stage in this collection, boasting rich hues such as a striking blue, elegant shades of nude, along with a bold maroon-to-red ombre variation that presents itself like fiery flames dancing with the wind.

Fern
Inspired by the magnificent craft of seni ukiran as a nod to heritage, Fern’s ‘The Ukir Series’ features contemporary traditional wear that captures the elegant beauty of Malaysian culture in the most graceful fashion. From kaftan blouses to kebaya jackets, intricate wood carving patterns are seen throughout the collection, accentuated by striking hues of green, blue, purple and more.

Innai Red
With aims to create a collection that evokes ethereal elegance and refined sophistication this Raya, Innai Red drew inspiration from the tranquillity and calmness of nature for its newest festive line, aptly named Serene Raya. Designed with the warm Malaysian climate in mind, the collection sees a range of relaxed classic silhouettes made with lightweight fabrics in soft pastel hues, accentuated by contemporary details such as embellished laces and tulle. The collection is exclusively sold at Innai Red’s boutique by appointment, located in Plaza Damas, Kuala Lumpur.

Cosry
Malaysian luxury fashion label Cosry came out with not just one, but two bespoke Raya collections this year, namely Luxe and Limited Edition. Exquisitely crafted with the finest materials, Luxe sees a selection of youthful and contemporary silhouettes with an air of graceful femininity, while Limited Edition features a range of mature and sophisticated traditional wear that boasts bold, captivating colours. Intricate embroideries and lace details take centre stage in both collections, as seen on the breathtaking Lorene Kurung from Luxe and the striking blue Delina Kurung Scallop from Limited Edition, which was made with the most sublime Thai Silk.

Yadotsa
Timeless and sophisticated, Yadotsa’s made-to-measure Raya 2023 collection, titled Floraison, is nothing but divine. While each piece takes on the classic baju kurung silhouette, they’re beautifully elevated with intricate lace embellishments and delicate floral prints, as well as pleated skirts and sleeves for a modern touch.
