ECCO ushers in a new era with Natacha Ramsay-Levi and the ‘NRL’ collection

Innovation and superior craftsmanship have always been at the heart of ECCO since its inception in 1963. Guided by family-driven values and an enduring enthusiasm, the Danish brand is still running strong and celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. But now is the time for a change and what better way to ring in the next chapter than with a fresh outlook? With courage, the footwear label redefines its culture to help people live better lives.

In line with the agenda, Natacha Ramsay-Levi has been named as the brand’s new creative partner. The Parisian native isn’t a newcomer to ECCO as she was an integral part of the At.Kollektive—the House’s collaborative platform. This time, the aspiring designer makes her debut with the bi-annual ‘NRL’ capsule collection. An eclectic mix of sporty and urban aesthetics, the latest line features various styles enhanced by bright colours such as bubble-gum pink and cherry red, as well as leather details with a rubberised effect.

If you’re looking to catch up with the latest trend, the Sculpted design offers a bold 55mm heel that lets you stand tall with confidence and elegance. The Mizuhara sisters—Kiko and Ashley Yuka—model the boots, which are fashioned from full-grain leathers and feature Fluidform Technology for all-day comfort.

There’s also the Biom C-trail style, which is meant for outdoor enthusiasts. While the lightweight rubber outsole provides seamless support throughout the day, the inclusion of Biom Natural Motion technology improves the wearer’s agility and stability. As seen on American professional skateboarder Lyn-z, the same pair comes in a range of colours like chartreuse yellow, light denim blue and chilli red.

Elsewhere, the Gruuv mid-cut boots are a must-have thanks to their cushy PU midsole and dynamic two-way flex rubber sole, which allows for flexible movement. On the other hand, the Grainer makes a wonderful alternative with its rubber-lugged outsole and colour-blocking styles. With plenty of choices to choose from, the ECCO x Natacha Ramsay-Levi is perfect for those who want to add an individual flair to their wardrobe.

Ahead, the designer divulges more about the recent partnership:

On her attraction to ECCO:

“I was amazed by the innovation, responsibility, awareness—the fact that they truly know what they are doing. This was exactly the kind of environment I was looking for and wanted to work with.”

On creating the collection:

“The first idea was to work inside a framework that already existed. From there, I work on refining it from an alternate perspective, because this isn’t about bringing in a designer and changing everything. It’s the opposite of what we want to do.”

On the most important lessons she’s picked up:

“To be honest, I’ve never worked for a company that produces shoes solely, but I think I’m learning to be welcoming of surprises. What I also discovered was my capacity to lead with trust, confidence, and joy.”
