A Modern Ode to Art Nouveau: Inside Delvaux’s ‘Language of Nature’ Pop-up in Hong Kong

Since 1829, Delvaux has been synonymous with refined elegance, pioneering the art of making handbags that feel both timeless and contemporary. Whether it’s the structured grace of the Brillant or the bold lines of the Lingot, each design reflects the Belgian maison’s quiet mastery of form, material, and movement.

This season, Delvaux channels that same instinct for innovation in ‘Language of Nature’, an exclusive collection inspired by the lyrical forms of Art Nouveau. Celebrated for its fluid curves and organic shapes, Art Nouveau arose as a deliberate contrast to industrial standardisation—championing handcrafted artistry and elegant design. Delvaux interprets this vision through pieces made to fit into real life—meant to be worn, used, and loved for years to come.

Floral motifs bloom throughout the collection, with emblematic Art Nouveau flowers—tulips, daisies, lilies—imbuing a pastoral charm and evoking the soft awakening of spring. Daisies gently embellish the Tempête Sweet Daisy, while tulips curl gracefully around the handle of the Brillant Tulips. A pristine white leather iris adds just the right contrast to the mint-hued Pin Bucket, and delicate beadwork brings daisy motifs on both the Brillant and Tempête to life.

Past the petals, the narrative deepens through exceptional handwork. The Brillant Mosaïque showcases hours of meticulous hand embroidery, while the Box Calf Caprice echoes architectural artistry through elegant ironwork. These tender yet intentional details speak to a vision of femininity that is as thoughtful as it is artistic.

Delvaux marks the launch of the latest collection with a travelling pop-up that traces a path from West to East, then back to its roots. Beginning at South Coast Plaza in California, the installation now invites discovery at Hong Kong’s K11 Musea before returning home to The Botanic Sanctuary in Antwerp.

The ‘Flower Kiosk’ invites visitors into a world where Art Nouveau’s floral elegance comes vividly to life. A soft interplay of light, translucence, and texture mirrors the gentle rhythms of nature. At the entrance, timeless curves and muted shades reinterpret the movement’s heritage for today, guiding guests toward a collection that resonates with contemporary allure. One piece that really stands out is ‘le Princesse’—the world’s first patented women’s handbag and a proud emblem of Delvaux’s boundless creativity.
