The best of LFW SS19 day 2: Nicholas Kirkwood’s futuristic booties

After years of showing his collections in Paris, Nicholas Kirkwood decided to return home for his first on-schedule fashion show yesterday, and it has been described as an “experiential fashion, high art and digital media” experience. For Spring/Summer 2019, the designer professed his love for all things sci-fi with a show concept that’s based around symbols of resistance and protest. Among the cast? Rose McGowan who took a stance barefoot, holding a hollow heeled bootie with neon panels, and 18-year-old CyFi, who is your modern-day hacker. The concept was translated into his shoes that were introduced in sculptural silhouettes that were also feminine. Sandals were made from repurposed cables, ankle boots featured cube and bolt heels, and sneakers were wrapped in foil. The most eye-catching of the lot, was definitely the white sock boots that were circled with malleable fluorescent light. These are the shoes we won’t mind walking a mile in.
