Stars mourned the loss of basketball legend Kobe Bryant, and Billie Eilish went home as the biggest winner of the night.

The 62nd Grammy Awards saw many stars and fans paying tribute to legendary Los Angeles Laker Kobe Bryant, who was part of the nine (including his 13-year old daughter Gianna) killed in a tragic helicopter crash in Calabasas earlier that day.

"Tonight is for Kobe" said Lizzo before kicking off the night with a performance of 'Cuz I Love You' and her 2017 hit 'Truth Hurts'. Host Alicia Keys and R&B group Boyz II Men also paid tribute to the late basketball legend with a rendition of 'It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday'. "We're literally standing here, heartbroken, in the house that Kobe Bryant built," said Keys before the performance. (The Los Angeles Lakers play their home games at the Staples Center, where the Grammys were being held.)

The late rapper Nipsey Hussle, who won Best Rap Performance for his song 'Racks in the Middle' and Best Rap/Sung Performance for 'Higher' with DJ Khaled and John Legend, was also remembered with an all-star tribute. Meek Mill, John Legend, DJ Khaled and Kirk Franklin were among those who performed while images of Hussle and Bryant were shown on a screen as the performance ended.

Billie Eilish dominated music's biggest night by bagging five awards (out of six nominations!) including all four major categories—Record of the Year, Album of The Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist. She was only 17 years old at the time she was nominated back in 2019, making her the youngest artist to be nominated in all "big four" categories at the same time. Other big winners of the night includes Lizzo, who had the most nominations this year, with three wins out of eight nominations and Lil Nas X with two wins out of six nominations.

Other highlights of the event includes Demi Lovato's emotional yet powerful comeback performance of her new song 'Anyone'; Lil Nas X, who belted his hit song 'Old Town Road' with a star-studded cast comprising BTS and Mason Ramsey; and five-time nominee Ariana Grande, who performed a medley of her chart-toppers.
