11 November, Wayang Budiman presents Heaven on Earth @ Kelab Seni Filem Malaysia, 8-11pm

Directed by Deepa Mehta, Heaven on Earth follows the life of Chand, a young bride who leaves her family and home in Punjab, India to marry a man she’s never met in Ontario, Canada. Settling down with his very traditional family, she finds herself at the mercy of his temper and her mother-in-law’s controlling behaviour, and takes refuge in a familiar Indian folk tale featuring a King Cobra.

12 November, Ilham Conversations: Lat’s Mat Som @ Ilham Gallery, 3-5pm

Join Umapagan Ampikaipakan, Programme Director of Cooler Lumpur Festival and BFM stalwart, as he dissects Mat Som, a graphic novel by iconic local cartoonist Lat and one of the first of its kind published in Malaysia.

12-13 November, Etsy Made Local @ Battery Acid Club

Discover your local Etsy artisans and makers in this little celebration of the arts and crafts, and perhaps pick up a handmade good or two in the markets. There are also different workshops each day for those who’d like to indulge in a creative afternoon—a watercolour workshop by weekendiminlove on Saturday and a calligraphy workshop by Elliholi on Sunday.

13 November, Where the Three Rivers Meet: A People’s History of KL @ APW Bangsar, 2-3pm

Curated by PUSAKA as part of the programme for Kuala Lumpur Literary Festival, get to know our capital city a little better as Malaysia’s esteemed historian Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dr. Khoo Kay Kim and public intellectual Eddin Khoo take us through some of the known and hidden narratives of Kuala Lumpur.

19 November, Rockaway Fest 2016 The Saga Continues @ Bukit Jalil Extreme Park, 12pm-12am

The second leg of Malaysia’s biggest rock festival continues in Bukit Jalil. This time around, it’s a blast from the past with some of Malaysia’s best: Butterfingers is back for their 20th anniversary, while Zainal Abidin celebrates 30 years in the scene. Other acts include Third Eye Blind, Taking Back Sunday, One Buck Short and Kyoto Protocol.

19-20 November, Mahler’s Titan by the MPO @ Petronas Philharmonic Hall

Internationally acclaimed baritone Matthias Goerne will sing Guastav Mahler’s intimate deeply personal songs from Des Knaben Wunderhorn (The Youth’s Magic Horn) with the orchestra led by conductor Guillaume Tourniaire. The audience is also set to go on a journey with Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 ‘Titan’, a piece that is at once mystical and playful, earthy yet transcendent.

25 November, Moonshine 11th Anniversary @ The Bee, Publika, 8-11pm

This November marks 11(!) years since Moonshine has been booking acts, organising shows, as well as showcasing gems of the Malaysian music scene each month, and they are celebrating the milestone anniversary with a stellar lineup that includes Froya, Bihzhu, Beverly Matujal, Reza Salleh and Gabriel Lynch.
