Can you believe it’s March already? But hey, we say forget bemoaning the whirlwind nature of time and take on the brand new month by the reins with some of the latest Malaysian music releases. Let’s get bopping!
Kicking off the playlist is post-punk/alternative pop band LUST with one of their latest tracks ‘Desire’, an upbeat tune with catchy guitar lines and a surprise reggae-tinged bridge—we’re digging their sound so much we threw in their other new single ‘U I Adore’ in the mix. Taking it down a notch are electro-pop hits ‘Please Don’t Break My Heart’ by Rozella and ‘Flashes’, a collab between Bil Musa and MFMF. (a collective consisting of Kuizz and Spuds).
A rare acoustic find in a sea of engineered pop melodies, young singer-songwriter Amrita Soon’s ‘Familiar Strangers’ tugs at our heartstrings with her gentle vocals and honest lyrics. We then veer into darker tones with Hani & Zue’s haunting new track ‘Aku Dan Laguku’, before Alextbh takes us back into electro pop territories with ‘no space’, the rising star’s take on a hook-up song infused with a little funk and R&B. Lunadira’s ‘ur cute but boring’ rounds out the genre with chill, upbeat vibes.
Hip-hop tag team Alif and SonaOne keep the beats coming with a feel-good, motivational anthem in ‘Pun Boleh’. Finally, ride off into your weekend adventures with the fresh Cuurley x Kayda collab ‘Only U’.
