Starting with a tribute to the legendary rock band Queen, the MPO will be presenting an exhilarating concert that will have audiences witnessing the full extent of the MPO’s virtuosity. Led by Brent Havens, expect to hear some of the band’s most well-known tracks such as We Will Rock You and Bohemian Rhapsody presented in a high-energy, unique classical style. This special tribute concert will take place on Friday, 14 August to Sunday, 16 August 2015.
Next on the August calendar will be a collaboration with the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO), led by the MPO’s Ciaran McAuley and NSO’s Mustafa Fuzer Nawi. The ensembles will present a programme which includes Dvorak, Brahms and Liszt and will be showcasing on Friday, 21 August 2015 and Saturday, 22 August 2015.
To usher in Merdeka Day, conductor Fabio Mechetti will present masterpieces by Berlioz, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff on Saturday, 29 August 2015, and Sunday, 30 August 2015.
