The 2024 VMAs packs a punch with its lineup of performers
It’s officially VMA season! With the music award show approaching on 12 September, fans are already buzzing with excitement at the reveal of its roster of performers. Namely, Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello will each take the stage (fans have recently been dissecting the two pop stars’ relationship with Mendes after the release of Carpenter’s Short N’ Sweet album).
Pop culture icon Katy Perry will also perform and receive the Video Vanguard award this year. Other than that, there will be a slew of stage debuts such as Blackpink superstar Lisa, Beautiful Things singer Benson Boone, and overnight sensation Chappell Roan. Returning to the VMAs stage are Halsey, Lenny Kravitz, Anitta, Karol G and LL Cool J. Check back here as we add more names to the list!
Sabrina Carpenter and Jenna Ortega kiss and kill in Taste
They may be pint-sized but don’t get on their bad side! In the campy horror music video for Taste, the Espresso singer teamed up with rising Hollywood scream queen, Jenna Ortega, for a blood-soaked love triangle where things get really messy. The music video is full of horror nods to classics such as Death Becomes Her and Kill Bill. Taste is the title track off Carpenter’s latest studio album, Short N’ Sweet—stream it below.
Justin and Hailey Bieber welcome baby boy

Baby Bieber has arrived! On 23 August, Justin announced the birth of their first child with an Instagram photo of his son’s foot. Simply captioned, “Welcome home, Jack Blues Bieber,” the post saw an overpouring of congratulatory messages and has since garnered over 20 million likes. According to a source who told People, the couple are “both overjoyed” over their “miracle” baby and shared that Bieber is “already a great dad.”. Congratulations to Justin and Hailey!
Chappell Roan calls out “predatory behaviour” amongst her fans
While Chappell Roan’s star continues to grow, the breakout singer has come out on social media to address the “predatory behaviour” she has been experiencing from so-called “superfans” and wishes to set boundaries when she’s on and off the stage.

“I’ve been in too many nonconsensual physical and social interactions and I just need to lay it out and remind you, women don’t owe you shit,” she wrote. “I don’t agree with the notion that I owe a mutual exchange of energy, time, or attention to people I do not know, do not trust, or who creep me out—just because they’re expressing admiration,” she continued.
She concluded that she is still grateful for the fans who have respected her boundaries and supported her career.
J-Lo and Ben Affleck call it quits…again
Bennifer is officially over for the second time. On 20 August, the 50-year-old singer and actress filed for divorce after two years of marriage and also asked the court to change her legal last name back to Lopez. According to her divorce petition, Lopez cited “irreconcilable differences” and according to sources to People, had conflicting personalities.
“They’re very different people,” the source shares. “She’s super public and is more social, and he’s more of an introvert and is happy to hang out at home.” Another source also revealed that the actor and Oscar-winning director was prone to drastic mood swings, with “big highs and big lows.” Fans were rooting for the couple after they first split back in 2004.
