MTV Movie & TV Awards 2022: Full winners list and highlights

The MTV Movie & TV Awards made a return for its 30th edition yesterday (6 June) with dazzling attendees on the red carpet. Hosted by Vanessa Hudgens and Tayshia Adams, the show celebrates the biggest moments on film and TV as voted by fans.

The show is also known for its shocking wins and quirky awards such as Best Kiss and Best Fight on television—bringing fun and humour to award ceremonies. Needless to say, MTV is never without its memorable moments. From Sydney Sweeney’s iconic acceptance speech to Jack Black doing a somersault, here’s a recap of what went down along with the winners list:

Sydney Sweeney has never, ever been happier

The HBO hit show, Euphoria, won big with four awards at the MTV Movie & TV Awards this year including Best Fight for the dirty brawl that went down between Cassie and Maddie on the Season 2 finale. Alexa Demie, who played Maddy, did not attend the award show. However, Sweeney made sure to honour her in her acceptance speech. The star said, “I wish Alexa was here so that she could thank the amazing fans that we have because you all are so incredible.”. Her speech was followed by a parting shot that may have reignited the iconic feud: “But I have to be honest, Maddie might have gotten the last punch, but Cassie has never, ever been happier.”

Jack Black is a comedic genius, as always

Jack Black is one of Hollywood’s most beloved comedians and actors who has given us plenty of feel-good laughs through his films over the years. It goes without saying that Black continues to inspire us with laughter today and deservingly, he was honoured the Comedic Genius award but not without an entrance in true Jack Black fashion—a somersault in a panda hat.

Anaconda wins Best Kiss

Yes, a snake won Best Kiss. Poopies and The Snake from Jackass won the Best Kiss award and of course, the anaconda did not miss its attendance during the acceptance speech. Carried by six professionals, the 17-foot python caused jaws to drop amongst the audience when it was brought up to stage.
