The latest update
It’s finally here. We’re talking about the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer, that is. Yesterday saw the arrival of the film’s latest trailer. In case you missed the action-packed new clip, watch it here:
Who is the last Jedi?
Director Rian Johnson has stated to the press before that the title referred to Luke Skywalker—but he did add that there might be “wiggle room” for other interpretations.
From the trailer, we can see Rey training with a lightsaber on the island of Ahch-To, where we last saw her meeting Luke. The first teaser trailer for the film, however, revealed Luke saying: “I only know one truth. It’s time for the Jedi to end.” Whether his sentence is to be continued, or that is where the line stops—it makes a massive difference—we’ll soon see when the film hits the cinemas.
Who’s in it?
Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Poe Dameron, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis and the late Carrie Fischer all return to reprise their roles.
New major additions to the cast include Benicio Del Toro as an unnamed villain, Laura Dern as Resistance fighter Amilyn Holdo, and Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, another member of the Resistance. The film will also see the debut of Porgs, the cute new creature that is depicted in a scene with Chewbacca in the latest trailer. C3PO is also expected to make a return.
When can we watch it?
Save it in your calendar: Star Wars: The Last Jedi is expected to be released in Malaysian cinemas on 14 December 2017.
