Like many of you, The Queen’s Gambit was easily my biggest binge of the season. The Netflix miniseries was based on the 1983 American novel by Walter Tevis, which like the show, explores the life of a female chess prodigy as she comes of age in the male-dominated game, covering themes such as adoption, feminism, chess, drug addiction and alcoholism.
