Estée Lauder's new designer collab, Kim K's '90s-vibin makeup campaign, and more beauty news this week

Fresh Beauty opens its first boutique in Malaysia

If you were just a wee bit obsessed with Fresh's Beauty Kitchen pop-up that happened in KL two months ago, you'd be more than delighted to discover the brand's official boutique that has just opened in Mid Valley Megamall.

The 527-square foot space boasts the same elements that are in line with its brand story, from a bakery and kitchen to a library and alchemistic lab. Some exclusives that you can find in the store (and not in Sephora) include the Crème Ancienne Skincare range that's inspired by an ancient handmade recipe, the Oval Soap—the first product that founders Lev and Alina created for Fresh, and a complete fragrance bar with Fresh's bestselling scents.

Fresh is located at G-054, Ground Floor (Center Court), Mid Valley Megamall

Estée Lauder collaborates with designer Duro Olowu

Estée Lauder's latest designer collaboration is none other than Nigerian-born, British fashion designer Duro Olowu—most recognised for his penchant for mixing prints and textures to create the most dynamic designs. The result? A limited-edition makeup collection that's collectible-worthy with the snazziest of prints. The collection has six "customised products" curated by Olowu—two new eyeshadow palettes featuring matte and metallic textures and two Pure Colour Envy Sculpting Lipsticks that come with a hidden surprise beneath the caps.

Now available at Estée Lauder counters in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and Sunway Pyramid only

Angelina Jolie bares her tatts for Guerlain's new fragrance ad

Actress, filmmaker and humanitarian Angelina Jolie is the face of Guerlain's new Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum Intense fragrance and the recent video campaign showcases the star in a whole new light. Shot in her home in Cambodia by Oscar-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, the video sees Jolie lounging in bed (tanged in sheets), followed by a shower in the lush jungle—sneak a peek at most (if not all) of her body ink in the 45-second video.

Jolie has been the face of Mon Guerlain for two years now, and the Eau de Parfum Intense is the fifth iteration of the Mon Guerlain. The launch date is slated for late August.

Rihanna rocks green eyeshadow and Bantu knots at Crop Over 2019

Trust the Barbadian singer and entrepreneur to slay Crop Over, her home country's largest festival, with a dynamite ensemble and complementing beauty look. Wearing a vivid pink feathery mini-dress by Dutch designer David LaPort, she looked every bit festival-ready with her hair in multiple Bantu knots and sprightly green makeup coupled with rhinestone embellishments dotted next to her eyes.

The finishing touches: more bling in the form of crystal-dotted glasses and a mango (which she held as a prop)—looking like a snack.

Ariana Grande is dropping a #ThankUNext fragrance

Another celeb jumping on the beauty business bandwagon is Ariana Grande, who is releasing a second fragrance aptly named after her hit 'Thank U, Next'. She took to Instagram earlier this May to debut this summer-scented fragrance: "So I've been working on a ‘Thank U, Next' fragrance ... & I can't wait for u to see / smell her. I don't think I was supposed to announce this today but I'm excited and it smells divine so f*ck it ... hi perfume team love u."

Just two days ago, Grande officially announced the drop date (August 18), exclusively available at American beauty retailer Ulta. Expect a fruity concoction of pear, grapefruit, raspberries and hints of florals (lilies and rose) with a musky-sweet trail of wood and marshmallows.

Kim Kardashian West looks nothing like herself in this KKW Beauty campaign

Kim K's campaign images for her KKW Beauty launches typically make headlines but this time around, her Mattes Collection is garnering tongue-wagging for a different reason: her '90s-inspired visage. While some have likened her look to Toni Braxton and Aaliyah, there's no denying that the reality TV star is killing it with her super-contoured features and matted out complexion.

The Matte Smoke and Matte Cocoa collections, dropping August 16 on KKW Beauty, are "nostalgic" to boot, with eyeshadow palettes, lipsticks, lip liners and eyeliners to create various looks that are synonymous with Kardashian West's go-to makeup looks.

Emily Ratajkowski makes a feminist statement with underarm hair

In the latest issue of Harper's Bazaar US, model Emily Ratajkowski decided to make a "hyper feminine" statement by flaunting her underarm hair—unshaven in its bushy glory. Shot by photographer Michael Avedon, the image has garnered both support and flak in the comments on her Instagram post. But what we're all for is Ratajkowski's stance on staying true to her own identity as a woman: "As long as the decision is my choice, then it’s the right choice. Ultimately, the identity and sexuality of an individual is up to them and no one else.”
