Cannes 2019: Stars brought old Hollywood glamour to the red carpet with this beauty look
It's that time of the year again, when the French Riviera is swamped with A-listers and the most recognised faces in the international film industry, some of whom will bestow awards to deserving actors after taking in all the film screenings. Hot on the heels of last week's Met Gala (where happy campers reveled in the most spectacular ensembles), celebrities brought class and restraint to the red carpet, giving us every reason to look forward to this 10-day long festival.
The first day of Cannes Film Festival 2019 kicked off with the likes of Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez, Chloe Sevigny, Tilda Swinton and more serving glamour in more ways than one. Stars took the opportunity to pull off a mini-trend in the form of old Hollywood glamour—crimson lips, full lashes, radiant complexion, complemented with pared back hairdos that showcase their stunning visages. Gomez upped the ante with a perfect cat eye, courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Hung Vanngo (tip: she's wearing Marc Jacobs Beauty's Le Marc Lip Creme in Oh! Miley, in case you're obsessing over that lip perfection.)
Others who brought colour to the red carpet favoured a more subtle look by way of a pink lip. Thai socialite and actress Araya A. Hargate let her Ralph & Russo tulle creation steal the limelight by opting for a matte lippie and her signature full lashes, while Brazilian supermodel Izabel Goulart went with a monochromatic makeup look with a smoky pink eye makeup and matching rose-pink lips. Our personal favourite is Tilda Swinton, who never disappoints when it comes to going against the grain—we can't decide what we love more: her edgy, tousled quiff or the surprising pop of bubblegum pink on her lips.
