These are our favourite makeup launches from this month

Looking for ways to ace the base without breaking into a sweat and resulting in a crease-y, cakey mess? You may just find your new makeup bag essential from this list of complexion products. For diehard makeup enthusiasts, get your senses tingling with the latest from Fenty Beauty, Gucci Beauty, and Clé de Peau Beauté.

Here’s our favourite tried-and-tested products that we’d be down to repurchase in a heartbeat:

Shiseido Synchro Skin Collection

If you loved Shiseido’s self-refreshing complexion range that was launched last year, you’d be happy to know that the Synchro Skin lineup is getting a couple of new skin-perfecting additions (one of which is heat- and humidity-proof!).

Three compacts include: the Tone Up Primer Compact that diffuses light for a poreless effect; the Glow Cushion Compact that absolutely delivers in terms of coverage (pat it on acne-ridden areas and you’ll know what I’m talking about); and the Custom-Finish Powder Foundation that feels like bare skin—and can be applied wet or dry.

Available now at Shiseido boutiques in Suria KLCC and Sunway Pyramid and counters at departmental stores

Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Primer Collection

What’s better than giving us one new primer to keep our makeup in check? Delivering a complete range of primers including a Priming Essence that can prep and smooth out your skin texture for a flawless finish.

Laura Mercier is upping the primer game with the Pure Canvas Primers collection—five skin-loving formulas that are breathable and free of silicone, parabens, sulfates and fragrance, and tailored for specific needs i.e. hydrating, blurring, illuminating, protecting etc.

Editor’s note: “My ultra-sensitive skin approves, especially of the Hydrating Primer that worked beautifully in keeping my makeup on without aggravating my skin.” – Loh Wei Yeen, Deputy Editor

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation and Concealer

Fret not about having your pictures taken in ultra-HD—Make Up For Ever has got you covered (literally) with additional extension shades to its Ultra HD range, comprising the Foundation and Concealer.

Find four new colours in the lineup that are have yellow (warm) undertones for those who weren’t able to find the precise shade. The range now boasts 36 shades of foundation and 24 shades of concealer so you’ll never have to worry about getting the right swatch.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation (RM188) and Concealer (RM146) are now available in stores and at Sephora

Urban Decay Naked Powder Foundation

More foundation for makeup fans who are still mad for matte! We feel you—the dewy look can’t work on some of us oily-skin girls (boo). Urban Decay is making us fall in love all over again with powder foundations with this new addition to the Naked range.

What’s there to love? Apart from how long-wearing it is, it is super lightweight, breathable and has a bunch of skincare-loving ingredients so that your skin won’t dry out from the powder formula. Also, extra points for the useful charcoal-infused sponge that helps to mattify your skin as you pat on the foundation.

RM155; now available at Urban Decay and Sephora

Benefit Cosmetics Pore-fessional Hydrating Face Primer

Another primer on our must-have list is Benefit Cosmetics’ new Hydrating Face Primer. If you couldn’t get behind the Porefessional Pearl Primer or Face Primer (because, dry skin woes), or any other primers because they break you out, this one should be right up your alley.

Key ingredients include shea butter and hyaluronic acid to keep your skin refreshed and moisturised for up to 12 hours.

Fenty Beauty Snap Shadows

Fenty Beauty’s Snap Shadows made headlines for a few good reasons when it was launched last month—you can quite literally “snap” two together to keep it compact and cute when you’re on-the-go. This fun-sized six-pan palette comes in a range of shades and textures for you to create a multitude of lewks.

Editor’s note: “From how easy it is to snap it up to the way it glides smoothly on my eyelids, I’m 100% sold. Perfectly applicable and blendable with your fingertips (for lazy anti-brush girls out there like yours truly), and the colour translates beautifully. I’m tempted to keep all eight shades—but my personal favourite for everyday wear is True Neutrals.” – Loh Wei Yeen, Deputy Editor

RM110 each; available at Sephora

Clé de Peau Beauté Lip Glorifier

Clé de Peau Beauté is making our tinted lip balm dreams come true with the new Lip Glorifier that works well as a 1) lip primer to let your lipstick better adhere to your lips, and 2) a lip plumper for that next-level pout.

A complex of shea butter, safflower and argan tree oil gives it a smooth base, while colour agents will release a customised colour based on your lips’ natural shade. Available in three super natural shades to bring out the best from your lips.

Editor’s note: “I love when a tinted lip balm doesn’t fall short on its long list of promises—it either gives you a natural hue OR sufficient hydration, but this is a winner in all aspects (even with that super subtle rose scent).” – Loh Wei Yeen, Deputy Editor

Gucci L’Obscur Mascara

Gucci Beauty’s highly anticipated second offering (after its lipstick range) is the L’Obscur Mascara—available in one shade (for now), an intense black.

Apart from the rich texture that is reportedly doesn’t smudge, flake or feather, the flexible brush is worth a shoutout—a thin brush tip to take on the tiniest of lashes around the corners of the eyes, and to lengthen and separate each lash with precision.

Tip by Thomas de Kluyver, Gucci Global Makeup Artist: Wear it the classic way by holding the wand horizontally to “sweep” your lashes, or hold the wand vertically as you apply to create extra volume for a defined, bold look.

RM148; available at Gucci Beauty Suria KLCC
