Why You Need To Start Putting Blush on Your Chest

Fun fact: If you want to nab yourself a beau, all you need to do is apply your blush in these five strategic places. Find out more in our beauty guide below.

If there’s one thing you should keep in your beauty arsenal, it’s a great blush. Seriously, blush—especially of the cream and liquid variety—is the most versatile makeup product in your beauty bag.

Frankly, you can never have enough blush. In fact, we guarantee that you’re not using enough in your daily routine. Sure, the cheeks and eyelids are a good place to start, but you’re missing out if you’re not rouging up all over.

Why? Not only does blush add colour and life back into your complexion, but it can be used as intended, as eyeshadow, or as a sculpting product, helping you look put together in one easy step. It can also make you look sexier. How? Well…

We’ve done a little research, and we’ve concluded that actually, there are five key places you should be applying your blush. First, the cheeks (duh), then the nose, then the forehead, then the chin, and finally, the chest

To understand why, we have to think about why we blush in the first place. Blushing is a physical reaction, usually kicked off by intense feelings of embarrassment or excitement. That’s why you’ll go red both around someone you’re attracted to and when you get caught doing something you shouldn’t. Blushing is inherently very cute, and it’s because of its perceived connection to honesty and vulnerability. It’s also seen as cute or desirable because it can be, in the right circumstances, an indication of arousal (sorry, it had to be said!).

By applying blusher in these five key areas, you’re mimicking the natural flush pattern of your body when it’s excited, and that can really up the ante on your attractiveness. Think about it— realistically, it’s not just your cheeks that go red when you blush. Your whole body gets warm, fuzzy and flushed.

Besides, while chest blushing sounds odd, humans have done weirder things. Take flappers, for instance. Those floozies (non-derogatory) were rouging up their knees to draw attention to their bare legs, and it worked! Blushing up your chest is just another way to draw attention to the décolletage—a sensual part of the body that is wholly underrated. Essentially, if you’re looking to put the right signals out (or just look more attractive in general), all you need is a little colour in the right places.
