How To Rock Concealer Lips in 2025 Without Looking Anaemic
Somehow it works

We are sorry to report that concealer lips are officially back… and we love it. Ahead, we’re making a case for the polarising trend.
For those who spent their formative years navigating the ‘00s, reading that title probably sent a cold chill down your spine. We understand—but hear us out. If there is one thing Generation Z has proven, it’s that trends come around and there is always room for improvement.
We’ve seen it time and time again. It began with butterfly clips and zigzag parts, and soon enough, low-rise jeans, ballet flats and even peplum tops followed! In short, the return of concealer lips was only inevitable. Fortunately, the 2020s take on concealer lips doesn’t serve anaemic. Rather, it’s a nice break from the full pigment, heavy-handed, glossy lip that has come into vogue recently.
There are two things that define concealer lips: A pale pout and a matte finish. In fact, concealer is actually the least important part of achieving a concealer lip. Instead, what you really need to achieve to rock the look is a totally blank canvas to work with, which makes it a great base to build upon and get creative with.
Believe it or not, there is a way to wear the concealer lip trend and have it look good, and we’re going to prove it. Ahead, find three ways to make concealer lips wearable (and a bonus way to have fun with the look):
The classic

If you’re a purist, this is the one for you. Paired with a dramatic smokey eye and bronzed skin, a plain, blocked-out lip puts all focus on your gaze. Better yet, it’s super easy to achieve—all you need is the right lippy.
You’ll want to look for formulations that cater to your shade range, but our personal favourites are the MAC Cosmetics M·A·Cximal Silky Matte Lipstick in Acting Natural, Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte & Satin Velvet Lipstick in Butterscotch, and Pat McGrath Labs’ Satinallure™ Lipstick in Nude Fantasia.
Lined ombre lip

Best for beginners, a little lip liner will help you hop on the trend without taking you too far out of your comfort zone. In fact, this ombre lip is so wearable, it has got Lily Rose Depp’s seal of approval!
To recreate the look, start by lining your lips with a deep, rich brown hue. Then, feather out the edges toward the middle of your pout before filling in the rest with a pale, nude lippy. Voila—a sophisticated lip look that toes the line between edgy and sexy!
Bitten lips

Blending the concealer lip trend with the best of K-beauty, the bitten lip look is another great way to rock the trend. Essentially, you want to start with a clean base of your nude lipstick, and feather a lip tint from the centre of your lips outward. From there, it’s best topped with a generous amount of shimmer!
The look is inherently vampy, but can be dressed up to be girlier or edgier, depending on how you’re feeling. Just add a little blush and mascara for the former, or pair it with some grungy liner for the latter.
Frosted lips

While this may not be “wearable” per se, it certainly does make a statement! And, at the end of the day, all you really need to rock this trend is confidence and a dream, right? To get this frosted, metallic finish on your lips, start with the same base of nude lippy, but top it off with your favourite shimmer shadow.
Whether you’re going runway with a bare face or you’re opting to dress it up with an equally glam eye look, it’s a fun way to rock the trend.
