REVIEW: How Shiseido Professional’s Sublimic Salon Solutions Scalp Complete Spa saved my oily scalp

This award-winning salon treatment gave my scalp a much-needed refresh, restoring volume and life back into my locks—here’s why it’s worth a try.

It all starts with the scalp. I realised this after months of trying out the most expensive styling creams, the best hair oils, and the most advanced hair tools, and still ending up with flat, dull, and lifeless hair every single time. I didn’t mind that my hair would never hold shape—curls would drop almost immediately—because my hair texture is naturally thin. 

My biggest issue was the complete lack of volume on the top of my head. My bangs (an impulsive decision made after a particularly difficult day) flopped lifelessly on my forehead, even when curled with a hairdryer or after a night tightly coiled in rollers. My hair looked perpetually greasy; my friends would regularly ask me if I had just come from a run or the gym, and the answer was always no.

Next, the Sublimic Salon Solutions Purifying Clay was applied to my scalp then gently rubbed into my hair and left to sit for five minutes before I was ushered to the next station.

My hair was washed with the Sublimic Fuente Forte Shampoo for Oily Scalp in the basin. I enjoyed how it lathered beautifully and enveloped me in its green, floral fragrance with hints of muguet and ylang-ylang. This was followed by the Sublimic Salon Solutions Refining Cream and Sublimic Fuente Forte Treatment. With each rinse, my scalp felt lighter and cleaner. This lineup was cooling and soothing, leaving a pleasant tingling sensation on the scalp. I was impressed that the rest of my medium-length hair still felt hydrated, as other scalp-focused products that I have tried in the past tended to be quite drying for my ends. 

I was whisked back to my chair, where my scalp was sprayed liberally with Sublimic Fuente Forte Clear Shower to soothe and prevent the appearance of greasiness from excess sebum. Next, they combed through my hair and proceeded to dry it. To my surprise, there was so much volume on my hair after the blowout—and it stayed that way for the whole evening, without the need for copious amounts of hairspray (which contributed to my oily scalp issues). 

And I can say that the feeling of lightness from that experience persists long after the treatment. My hair also looks less dull and retains volume much better than before, giving more oomph to my troublesome bangs.
