#WednesdayWishlist: Beauty must-haves we're eyeing for summer
Jason Lim, Fashion Editor: Italian Bergamot, Ermenegildo Zegna Essenze
Bergamot is one of my favourite notes for summertime fragrances—the bitter orange’s essence is extracted from its rind and the refreshingly zesty scent is the perfect pick-me-up on a hot summer’s day. Everything from Ermenegildo Zegna starts with the best possible ingredients and the brand has an exclusive crop of Calabrian bergamot for use in its fragrances. In this gorgeous rendition, bergamot is mixed with neroli, vetiver and rosemary—a wonderfully sophisticated blend that makes the heat of summer seem almost bearable.
Loh Wei Yeen, Fashion & Beauty Writer: La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer and Foundation SPF 15
For me, summer beauty only means one thing: How do I amp my suncare routine so that I can keep freckles and dark spots at bay? La Prairie's posh offering that includes caviar extracts sounds like it could do my skin a favour, especially since my most-used beauty product in my routine is concealer. This luxe cream emulsion leaves a natural-looking coverage with added SPF15 for sun protection in case I'm out basking in the sun. Plus, caviar extracts have been said to have anti-inflammatory properties all thanks to its wealth of fatty acids. Killing three birds with one stone? I'm sold.
My hair is one of the biggest beauty dilemmas I have; it's frizzy, bushy and humidity is its foe. And it turns out that exposure to the sun, in general, and besides causing hair colour to fade, split ends and brittle and dry hair shafts, it can make the top layer of the hair more frizzy and thinner. Guess I love the sun but it doesn't love me (my hair) as much but thankfully, sunscreen for the hair is an up and coming concept. As its name suggests, Sachajuan's two new products complete my preparations for fun in the sun—a before and after sun care infused with their bespoke Ocean Silk Technology to maximise protection from bleaching in the sun and hair loss, and to restore shine, condition and re-moisturise. Extra brownie points for them because they smell amazing and has a lightweight texture.
Tan Su Fen, Editorial Assistant: Aesop Herbal Deodorant
I love everything about summer—yes, including the hot, hot weather that it is essentially associated with. My main priority for the season then, is to always stay fresh, because as much I love some fun in the sun, nobody likes B.O., right? So a good ol' deodorant is a mainstay on my vanity desk, and the Aesop Herbal Deodorant fits the bill just a right. It is formulated with Zinc Ricinoleate and a blend of essential oils, including rosemary, sage and eucalyptus, which imparts a refreshing residual aroma and sense of calm while it does its job of preventing unwanted odour.
