The secret to Beyoncé’s ‘no-makeup’ look as spotted on her viral cover photo

When Beyoncé’s cover for the September issue of Vogue dropped this week, it sent the world into a frenzied alert. While she may have been pictured with very minimal makeup, the Internet has not been able to get enough of her beauty look. This cover is every bit unforgettable and Beyoncé’s go-to makeup artist Sir John had a hand in her stunning natural glow.

“Beyoncé loves a ‘no-makeup’ makeup look,” he explained. “She’s all about being confident in your skin and owning your natural element. This look was all about redefining glamorous as a state of mind. We focused on enhancing her natural brows, skin, and structure—and bringing out that inner glow.”

And here’s how he did it:

Step 1: Sir John started off by prepping Beyoncé’s skin with Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer. Featuring five types of coconuts, this helps to nourish and hydrate the complexion.

Step 2: Next he used a two-part highlight step for that précised “bronzey, rose-gold finish”. First, he applied Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter in Fantasy on the highpoints of her face. “Always avoid shimmer on the front of the face. Apply it to your angles for sexiness.” Then, he mixed the said gel highlighter with a foundation slightly darker than her complexion for a ‘3D cheek’. “It’s all about a glowy contour. Dew Drops are worth their weight in gold. It’s the one thing I have in my bag everywhere—I use it for concerts, for shoots, for tours—I use it religiously.”

Step 3: For the final touch, Sir John used the Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Finish-Line Perfecting Coconut Setting Powder. It also has five types of coconut as well as cocoa butter to give a soft-matte finish.
