Have you just joined a run club? These are the beauty essentials you need to have on the track.

Run clubs are all the rage right now, and there are so many to choose from. You could hit up Sri Hartamas with Journey or go stride to stride through TTDI and the City with Brand New Waves, but the important thing is that you’re getting your steps in and keeping your social life alive and well. 

But, when you’re headed outdoors, you need to be prepared—water and sunscreen is a must, but we bet you’re neglecting these other beauty musts.

Whether you’re a beginner trying to get your first 5K or you’re well acquainted with runner’s high and you’re training for a full marathon, you’ll need these essentials. Find out what’s in our running beauty kit ahead:

 

MUST-HAVE #1: SUNSCREEN

You know the drill: If you’re headed outdoors in the daytime, you need to be wearing SPF. But, any old SPF won’t do in this case—you need to be wearing a formulation that is sweatproof, especially on your face. Why? Firstly, the sensation of sunscreen dripping into your eyes with sweat is far from pleasant. Secondly, if you’re sweating, then you’re going to be sweating off that protective barrier and you won’t get the full benefits of your SPF. 

For the face, look for an eye-friendly, sweatproof formula and potentially pack a sunscreen stick for on-the-go touch-ups on longer runs. For your body, the key is to find a thicker formulation that is resistant to constant rubbing and moisture (spoiler alert: Your limbs chafe a lot when you’re sprinting which can be both uncomfortable and compromise your protection).

MUST-HAVE #2: BUG SPRAY

When out in the elements, one is vulnerable to covert attacks. As such, you must never venture out unprotected. Mist yourself from top to toe with your favourite bug spray to keep the mozzies away!

After sweating it out, cooling down is key. For us, there’s nothing more refreshing than a few spritzes of face mist after a hard workout. Being under the sun can irritate the skin, so this cooling step is a great way to cool off and soothe the skin. And, if you can get your mitts on a formulation infused with SPF, even better!
