L’Oreal Professionnel Hair Fashion Night Presenting Colour For Life 2016: The 8 Renowned Designers

L’Oreal Professionnel’s Colour For Life charity campaign is back again this year with a star-studded lineup of designers and personalities behind its noble cause. Initiated in 2002, the Colour For Life is a nationwide fundraising campaign to give hope and assist children living with HIV. This year’s Hair Fashion Night Presenting Colour For Life 2016 event on May 16 and 17 involves a charity hair cut drive to collect funds for the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF), along with eight renowned designers who have lent their support by exclusively designing T-shirts for the event.

We had a chat with Datuk Professor (Dr) Jimmy Choo, Dato’ Tom  Abang Saufi, Eric Choong, Melinda Looi, Winnie Sin, Samantha Lee and Sereni & Shentel on what this campaign means to them and inspiration behind their T-shirt designs.

Five minutes with Sereni & Shentel

Tell us about your T-shirt design and the inspiration behind it?

Sereni & Shentel: We wanted something fun and light-hearted as the campaign is in support of a children’s charity. As such we designed doodles that represent our brand as well as random things that we love, such as tacos, our hometown Kuching and of course, headbands.

What message do you hope to convey through this campaign?

S&S: That anyone can do their part in helping out no matter how small. Our design will be available for purchase as a tote bag and proceeds will go to the charity.

What does being part of L’Oreal Professionnel Hair Fashion Night Presenting Colour For Life 2016 mean to you?

S&S: We are flattered that L’Oreal Professionnel has chosen us as one of the designers. And as mums ourselves, we feel even more strongly about helping out other kids in need.

What do you think are some common public misconceptions about HIV/AIDS that should be addressed?

S&S: It’s no longer a stigma as there is medication available to treat and manage the illness.

L’Oreal Professionnel Hair Fashion Night Presenting Colour For Life 2016 will happen this 16 and 17 May 2016 at Pavilion Centre Court. Drop by to support the campaign by purchasing exclusive tote bags (priced at RM30 each) designed by these eight designers. Free hair consultations will be available. Guests will also have the opportunity to get a haircut and styling session for only RM30 by professional hair experts during the charity haircut drive on 17 May. Proceeds will go to The Malaysian AIDS Foundation.
