Beauty buzz: Hermès is launching a lipstick range, Charlize Theron’s $15,000-trick to covering up her roots and more
Rouge Hermès drops this March
Another luxury fashion house that’s dabbling with beauty is none other than Hermès. According to the Wall Street Journal, the 183-year old French brand is releasing a 24-lipstick range this March, aptly named Rouge Hermès, inspired by the house’s impressive archival pieces of “75,000 silk swatches and 900 leather shades.” But that’s not all—the lipstick range is reportedly sustainable and refillable, with packaging made from the similar materials incorporated in its handbag hardware. Expect two finishes from this line, matte and satin, encased in chic colour-blocked lipstick bullets (exclusively designed by Pierre Hardy).

Charlize Theron’s choice of a red carpet hair accessory is a Tiffany & Co. bracelet
Hairstylist Adir Abergel’s inspiration on how to hide your roots if you haven’t got time to get a touch up? Cover it up with a USD$15,000 Tiffany & Co. bracelet. The celebrity hairstylist demonstrated this trick with Charlize Theron’s slicked-back ‘do during the SAG Awards earlier this week, sewing the bracelet onto a single plait along her centre part for a glamorous look. The aftermath may be challenging though—the South African actress shared on an Instagram post that “getting that bracelet out of my hair was a disaster.”
Serena Williams wore koala nail art at the Australian Open
Serena Williams is doing her part to raise awareness on Australia’s biggest natural disaster. During the recent Australian Open, the tennis icon’s pastel nails were decked with rhinestones, with one of them a graphic of a baby koala with a tiny red bow. But that’s not all—earlier this month, Williams pledged to donate all her tournament winnings amounting to USD$43,000 from the ASB Classic in New Zealand to the bushfire relief efforts. Actions speak louder than words and we couldn’t be more awed by the former world number one.
Draping is making a (serious) comeback this year
Pat McGrath has said it—and we stan. The recent Spring 2020 Couture runways are proof that this extended blush trend is seeing a resurgence and we are all for it. Models at Valentino Couture sashayed down the runway with a wash of deep pink over the eyelids, cheeks and temples—a nifty trick if you’ve only got one eyeshadow palette to play around for your entire face.
Tessa Thompson makes us green with envy
The Thor actress was part of the celebrity #FrontRow lineup at the recent Dior Couture show in Paris, and her makeup look was nothing but flawless. If last spring’s green eye makeup trend is still making you swoon, try Thompson’s new take with shades of teal and earthy browns. Check out what makeup artist Alex Babsky used for her full face look on Instagram.
