Here’s Why You Really Need This Facial Mist Duo in Your Kit

We live in a time where we want everything to move faster, work better – and we want those results yesterday. Skincare products are working harder than ever, cramming in as many benefits as our skin can soak up in the few minutes it takes us to apply the product – win. Right?

Then occasionally you get skincare players like SK-II that comes along and shakes things up a little. And don’t get me wrong; I love my facial mists, but a day and a night mist? I sense raised eyebrows, so I put both of them to the test…

Firstly, did you know our skin’s rhythm and behavior varies across each 24-hour cycle, depending on our stress levels and the external aggressors we’re exposed to? What that means is this yo-yo effect over time leaves us with drier and duller skin – not a good look.

Also, our skin’s hydration levels are said to take a dip around 4pm and 8pm (personally makeup-meltdown is around 3pm for me) so I’ve been making it a point to spritz the Mid-Day Essence every morning, after lunch and just before dinner. The formula is infused with high levels of Pitera and a MoistureLock Complex so it keeps the skin hydrated for up to four hours at a time. My makeup does stay fresh during the day – unless I’m outdoors for the most part – and we know in this lovely humidity, it takes more than a miracle mist to keep any makeup on at all after 10 hours! I do notice visibly lesser sneaky fine lines, which usually creep up by the evening, although I may have been spritzing it on more than three times during the day for good measure.

I use this on clean skin post-cleansing – it really helps to know that the mist particles are so fine, that they’re about a quarter the size of visible skin pores, so what you’re getting is optimum moisture penetration for your skin. Plus, the cooling effect from Menthoxypropanediol (a menthol derivative), refreshes yet calms my skin down after a long day. A spritz or two before bed lets me wake up to calmer, suppler skin in the morning too.

So as much as I am a cheerleader for multi-tasking products, I don’t mind adding a night mist into my beauty routine, which takes an additional two seconds out of my day to spritz – I’ll live. I may not see results yesterday, but I actually do the next morning when I wake up to well-hydrated skin and that’s good enough for me.
