Maison Margiela
There were, literally, golden girls at the house’s couture show, where models’ hair were spray-painted with metallic paint. In case you wanted to go all out for your next Halloween ensemble, just remember that subtle metallic accents on your locks isn’t head-turning enough—start from the roots and work your way to the ends for your very own crowning glory.
Chanel
For a dash of colour to complement the subdued colour palette of the collection, makeup artist Tom Pecheux successfully created unicorn eye-makeup without resorting to shimmery, pastel hues. Vivid blue lined the lower lids, while a head-turning combo of lilac, green, orange and red were blended beautifully along the upper lids and inner corners of the eyes. Tres chic.
Dior
Inspired by the intrepid adventurer, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup Peter Philips wanted to give a raw, refined sense of beauty to the models of the day. Makeup was kept bare, luminous, yet pure. But what stole the show was the wild, untamed brows that bolster an all-natural look. Dare we say that bold bushy brows are seeing a comeback in the very near future?
Ulyana Sergeenko
We can’t decide what we love more at Ulyana Sergeenko Couture: the perfectly arched brows, burgundy lips, or retro pin curls harkening back to the 1940s. Add pizzazz to your evening ensemble with this perfectly posh hairdo—for DIY-ers, a secret to aceing this look is with plenty of pins (both bobby and regular).
Giambattista Valli
Gloss is (once again) giving us a run for its money this season. Giambattista Valli proved that the ultra shiny lip trend isn’t officially written off as passé just yet, with a vivid poppy red lip emboldened with a slick of gloss for a mirrored effect. A tip is to keep the rest of your makeup simple—clean complexion and minimal brows would do just the trick. Add an extra dab of gloss in the middle of your lips for a high-shine look.
Rodarte
Flower crowns have never seen an upgrade quite like what Rodarte demonstrated at their Spring 2018 show. Alongside ethereal bunches of baby’s breath, satin ribbons, metallic bow clips, and even Birds of Paradise petal clips made up a few of the extensive hair adornments decked on models’ hair. Now this is how you pull off a bloom-tastic spectacle.
Valentino
White liner is back in all its glory, spotted at Valentino where models were given a strong cat eye with stark white liner. The beauty about this look is that it opens up your eyes without requiring a full eye makeup routine (which also means we won’t have to spend an extra 20 minutes in the wee hours of the morning.) Try a peach liner on the lower waterline for maximum effect.
