For SS16, J. Mendel enthralled audiences with the fluidity of his collection, achieved by the delicate flounces, ruffles, folds, cascades and micro-pleats, which were contrasted against asymmetric cuts and thigh-high slits-another core aesthetic for the season. Renowned for fur, it was no surprise that Mendel added a hint of spring fur within the collection, channeling his skills into a patterned Yagasuri intarsia vest.
Abstract prints permeated the runway with snakeskin and Yagasuri prints splashed across chiffon and georgette in a vibrant palette of blue, black and yellow. Alongside this, grommet-like metallic rings ornamented most of the evening wear, injecting a modern edge into the collection.
