BURO Spotlights: Audemars Piguet Raises the Curtain on Its New Kuala Lumpur Boutique

Audemars Piguet continues to strengthen its presence in the region with the opening of its new boutique concept in Kuala Lumpur. Located at the premier shopping destination, The Starhill, the 425-square-metre space aims to transport visitors to the Swiss watchmaker’s hometown in the Vallée de Joux. The collaboration between Vincenzo De Cotiis Architects and the brand’s in-house architects has resulted in a thoughtfully conceived interior in which every corner of the duplex store is imbued with references to the rugged valley’s natural landscape.
Elements cherished by the brand greet the visitors as soon as they step onto the polished parquet flooring. Placed under the liquid metal ceiling, the lounge area makes a lasting first impression with its textured glass partitions that evoke cascading water. Metallic tree trunks housing the timepieces reveal themselves upon further exploration. Hailed as the centrepiece, the sculpture made of enlarged watch components hanging from the ceiling anchors the space.
“Our new boutique reinforces Audemars Piguet’s commitment to engaging with watch enthusiasts at the heart of the city’s luxury landscape, while strengthening its presence in Southeast Asia,” said the Southeast Asia chief executive officer, Stefanie Ng, at the grand opening event. “The space immerses visitors in a timeless design capturing the essence of the brand, from its roots, heritage and craftsmanship to its avant-garde spirit and ecological approach,” she added.
Marking the milestone in distinguished fashion, Audemars Piguet welcomed Tunku Putera of Johor, Tunku Abu Bakar Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, as the royal guest of honour. His Royal Highness officially inaugurated the boutique with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by an energetic lion dance performance, and toured the well-appointed space. The symbolic gesture ushered in an exciting new chapter for the brand in the country.
Beyond the official proceedings, there was no shortage of star power at the event, as local celebrities flocked to witness the historic occasion. Among those spotted in attendance were Amelia Henderson, Angel of Dolla, Daiyan Trisha, and Eyka Farhana. The evening culminated with the arrival of Thai heartthrobs, Pond Naravit Lertratkosum and Tay Tawan Vihokratana, who sent thousands of fans camping outside the mall into a frenzy.
