Who needs to chase distant horizons when you have a century’s worth of stories in your own backyard? Just look at Bvlgari. The luxury house has built an entire empire on the back of its Roman heritage. The ancient Colosseum has given us the B.zero1 collection, the Baths of Caracalla the Divas’ Dream, and the mythology surrounding snakes the iconic Serpenti. When others scramble in pursuit of newness, Bvlgari looks inward for possibilities, staying grounded in the Eternal City. So it comes as no surprise that the jeweller once again turns to the same compass for its latest magnum opus: Bvlgari Eternal.

Created to revive seminal works from the house’s archives, the collection opens with the Vimini designs. The point of reference here is a bracelet from 1942. Born amid the turbulence of World War II, when the industry faced both material and social constraints, the piece has become a symbol of resilience and resourcefulness. Its wave-like, repeating form in rose and yellow gold mirrors the function-forward principles of Italian Rationalism.
Building upon the legacy of its predecessor, the Vimini line turns to the age-old technique mastered by Greeks and Romans, which is crafting everyday objects from straw branches. Its name, after all, translates directly to ‘wicker’. Here, threads of pure yellow gold are woven into five fine jewellery creations. The Vimini bracelet is especially noteworthy as it stacks rhomboid-shaped elements to recreate the original wavy appearance.

“While envisioning this line, I kept the original archive piece in mind, captivated by its timeless allure. I was fascinated by its rhythmic geometry and warm tones of gold. So we reinterpreted them with a modern sensibility,” says creative director Lucia Silvestri in a statement. “Each piece feels fluid and tactile, designed to move naturally with the body, contemporary, elegant, and deeply connected to our heritage,” she adds.
This exciting exploration into the past doesn’t stop there as Bvlgari takes a step further with its high jewellery masterworks. The avant-garde Vimini gems, which include classic necklaces and poncho-style pieces, feature the innovative Diamond-Like Carbon. This indomitable material evokes a deep, velvety black shadow. It creates a dramatic contrast against the shimmer of yellow gold and diamonds. Lisa of Blackpink demonstrated this at the recent Golden Globes.
