5 Watches and Jewellery Updates to Know This June

The excitement in the realm of luxury reaches new heights this month. With the constant stream of announcements notifying new launches, collaborations, and movements, it is nearly impossible to tell what comes next. That said, nostalgia remains the bright thread binding the industry together. While deep-diving into one’s archive in pursuit of something novel may not be a headline-making endeavour, few are doing it like these brands. Ahead, we list down all the newsworthy developments happening in the world of watches and jewellery in June.

APO NATTAWIN AND FREEN SAROCHA STAR IN A NEW PIAGET CAMPAIGN

Piaget’s global ambassador, Apo Nattawin, is back with another captivating campaign for the brand. Joined by actress Freen Sarocha, the Thai heartthrob models the Sixtie watch, imparting his modern magnetism to the piece’s flamboyance that marked the late 1960s. But much like Nattawin and Sarocha, the watch’s allure goes beyond the aesthetics. The Piaget 57P quartz movement impressively matches the stunning trapeze-shaped case.

CHANEL REACHES FOR THE STARS WITH NEW COLLECTION

The world of high jewellery continues to thrive as Chanel welcomes its new sun-kissed creations. Capturing that magical moment between day and night, the golden hour, the novelties from the Reach for the Stars collection are expressed in monochromatic hues. The exquisite pieces—from the open necklaces to the tiaras—simultaneously pay homage to Gabrielle Chanel as they borrow their forms from her most cherished symbols like the comet, wings and the lion.

ULYSSE NARDIN GETS ITS FREAK ON

Something shifted when Ulysse Nardin introduced its Freak line in 2001. The decision to do away with the hands, dial, and crown was met with both cheers and jeers. The esteemed watchmaker then marched forward with Freak X—a more accessible iteration with a slimmer profile and a smaller case. The latest Freak [X Gold Enamel] advances the storyline with a Guilloché-Flinqué rotating disc with a sunray pattern while preserving the flying carousel complication.

BLANCPAIN AND SWATCH RETURN TO THE SEA WITH GREEN ABYSS

The Blancpain x Swatch Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms collection once again tips its hat to the storied Fifty Fathoms diver’s watch with Green Abyss. Steeped in deep green hues with a hint of beige and black, the watch boasts a suite of notable specs, including the water contact indicator. It is a fan-favourite complication that helps divers detect the presence of water. Like all of its predecessors, Green Abyss is powered by Swatch’s innovative SISTEM51 movement.

LOUIS VUITTON TRAVELS BACK IN TIME WITH ESCALE AU PONT-NEUF

Louis Vuitton’s Escale au Pont-Neuf pocket watch is an example of a throwback timepiece done right. Returning to its Parisian roots, the brand illustrates a barge carrying its iconic trunks on the Seine on the dial. Its headquarters on the right bank of Pont-Neuf, the city’s oldest bridge, stands tall in the background. What’s more interesting is that the scene comes to life with a nudge on the slider piece at six o’clock—thanks to the manual winding LFT AU14.03 calibre.
