Michael Fassbender made his racing debut in the 2017 Ferrari Challenge

It’s not uncommon for actors to pursue their love and dream of driving a race car. Patrick Dempsey did it with Porsche. Michael Fassbender has done it with Ferrari. The actor began training with Ferrari’s “Corso Pilota” driving program last year and made his debut recently in the first round of the 2017 North American Ferrari Challenge racing series.

“Ferrari is defined by racing, and training with the Ferrari team gave me a great foundation to hone my skills behind the wheel of the 488 Challenge race car,” says Fassbender.

“From a very early age I idolised Ferrari and its champion, Michael Schumacher, in particular, so now racing in the Ferrari Challenge brings that dream full circle,” he continues.

He finished in 17th place overall and 11th in his class – not bad for a beginner. Fassbender will go on to compete in the rest of the season with the next round happening in June at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
